What has impressed you the most since joining the Capital International Group?

The people are the first thing that stands out, everyone has been very welcoming and helpful, and this makes a great environment to work in. The second thing that hit me was just how vast the offering is, I did not realise how many quality services and solutions you have to offer- and I don’t think the outside world (potential supporters/ customers) are aware either.

What have you been focused on since joining?

My first week has been spent visiting each team/ department to introduce myself and get a feel for how operations and services are run from each area. This also gives me a good insight into how I need to be promoting Capital, as I have mentioned above there are many services that I am convinced the vast majority of brokers and Institutions are not aware of, which can add greatly to their client base and so business revenues.

What are the priorities that you are focusing on over the coming months?

Working with Antony Kelsey in order to clearly identify our target market and jurisdictional focus, so that we concentrate our efforts and not have a scattergun approach to obtaining new business.

Also, putting together the sales aides for each of our services and engaging with all my contacts, new and old, in order to engage and arrange meetings- we have to raise our visibility out in the market.

What is your fondest memory growing up?

I grew up on a farm so I loved the freedom and variety, we were never indoors, so always out exploring and probably doing things we shouldn’t have been doing! I also remember my dad coming back from the farmers mart when I was four years old as he had bought (or bartered!) me a bike, which was mine first and not a hand me down.

Where in the world would you most like to visit, and why?

I would like to cycle from Vietnam to Cambodia, with a visit to Angkor Wat as the end goal. It would be a fantastic way to experience the true culture of the countries and see a magnificent ancient site.

What is the best piece of personal advice you could offer?

Life is short, so take time to truly appreciate everything around you and every opportunity you have.

If you could spend 20 minutes with anybody – dead or alive – who would it be?

My dad and my wife. My dad died 18 years ago when I had just starting seeing my now wife. I would love to have listened to them getting to know each other, and then dad putting my wife right on a few matters!

If you hadn’t chosen your current career is there another you would have pursued?

Cabinet Maker

Do you own a tablet?

No

Social media – Love it or hate it?

I’m indifferent to it- I don’t use Facebook, Twitter or whatever other modern things are out there! Nevertheless, I have nothing against it.

What websites do you visit the most?

BBC, for the news and the sport.
