In Memoriam: Alan Smith

It is with great sadness that we pay special tribute to Alan Smith, who recently passed away following a long battle with cancer.

Alan joined the Capital International Group Board as a non-Executive Director in 2010 and has overseen and supported our development journey over the last 15 years.

He chaired the Capital International Bank board through its launch period (prior to the appointment of Rt Hon. Mark Field), and he was a Commissioner at the FSA for a number of years. Prior to which he had a long and distinguished career with Bank of Bermuda and HSBC. His deep knowledge and experience of the offshore financial services industry has been invaluable in helping guide the Group through the rapidly changing regulatory and commercial landscape over the last decade.

We shall greatly miss his council and support at every level across the business and our thoughts go to his family at this difficult time.
