Peter Fisher’s 31-day Running Challenge

After recovering from Coronavirus himself, our Senior Treasury Manager, Peter Fisher, wanted to do something to support the NHS in these difficult times and so set himself a challenge.

On the 1st May, Peter ran 1km. On the 2nd, he covered 2km. He continued like this, adding 1km to his distance each day until the 31st May. Successful in his challenge, by the end of the month Pete had covered a whopping 496km! (309 miles) and raised over £3000 for NHS charities. Congratulations on an incredible achievement Pete!

Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental Health Awareness Week (18th- 24th May) was a busy week for us with some brilliant initiatives organised that staff were very keen to get involved in.

Throughout the entire week, we offered virtual lunchtime staff rooms on Microsoft Teams. Some staff popped in to say hello for five minutes, others stayed for the whole hour. Depending on your circumstances, working from home can be quite isolating, so this was a great way to make our staff feel more connected.

Mental Health Charity, Isle Listen, kindly offered to deliver an online talk to our staff. They discussed some of the most common mental health challenges presented by the lockdown and shared some potential coping strategies.

Danny Kane from Next-Level Fitness also paid us a virtual visit. Danny talked about staying physically healthy with a focus on diet and exercise and how this can contribute to maintaining mental wellbeing.

The highlight of the week for many was the secret-santa style kindness messages. Staff were randomly assigned another colleague for whom they had to write a message. The kindness messages were then anonymously delivered via email by our Culture Club. This proved to be an incredibly uplifting initiative and definitely something we will look to repeat in the future.

Lockdown Awards Night

Our 150+ employees had a treat of their choice delivered to their door over lockdown and with it came an invitation to our Lockdown Awards Ceremony. We wanted to celebrate those who had shown real innovation in coping with circumstances as well as those who had gone above and beyond to raise team morale.

Our Isle of Man staff gathered in our Douglas and Castletown offices while our South Africa team tuned in to a live stream from their homes due to lockdown restrictions still being in place.

On the night, we awarded restaurant voucher prizes to 17 individuals as well as three teams. A huge congratulations to all of our winners!
