Junior Achievement | Company Programme – Volunteer Mentor of the Year

Friday 17th March 2017

We were delighted to sponsor the Volunteer Mentor of the Year at the recent Junior Achievement Company Programme Competition Awards.

Antony Kelsey, Head of Business Development, attended the Gala event and was delighted to be able to present the award to the winner. Antony had been warned that the announcement of the winner would be slightly unconventional; to see why and to find out who the worthy winner of the Volunteer Mentor Award was, please click on the video link to the right.

The Junior Achievement Company Programme enables students aged 16 to 19, normally in Year 12, set up and run their company over the course of one academic year. They elect a board of directors from amongst their peers, raise share capital, develop, market and finance a product or service of their choice. At the end of the year they present a report and accounts to their shareholders. Students gain experience of the real world, taking responsibility and being accountable to their shareholders for the running of the business. Companies from all over the Island compete in the National Finals to select the company that will represent the Isle of Man at the European Company of the Year Competition.

Our congratulations of course also go to the winning Company on the evening, Progression+, who now go on to represent the Isle of Man at the finals in Brussels.
